The R&D department is part of the larger Johnson & Johnson Pharma R&D organization.  Globalization and integration of the R&D departments of Johnson & Johnson Pharma companies have resulted in the fact that activities within R&D no longer focus on Centocor products only (large molecules), but  they involve development of products (small molecules) of other Johnson & Johnson Pharma companies too.
